The Highlands House

OVERVIEW

Our clients original home was filled with many traditional elements. However, the architecture for their new build was quite modern. It was important for us to play off of familiar traditional elements for our clients to feel comfortable in their new modern home. This was achieved through the selections of sheer curtains, fluted glass doors, shaker cabinets and timeless light fixtures being intertwined with modern fixtures. Our clients wanted to see black accents but done in a delicate way which was achieved through mixing a combination of black fixtures paired with brushed nickels. In some areas, we pulled the black accents more boldly to give more of a statement and enrich the space. Our clients love to entertain and have a huge family so accounting for unique ways to accommodate larger gathers was essential. This was achieved by having a large round dining table to easily add more chairs as needed and implementing bench and ottoman seating for overflow guests. Our clients love plants so we played off of their interest by adding indoor planters and palm wallpaper seen in the powder room and laundry room.
